FAQ

1- 36- Which airport should i fly to have my hairtransplantation?

You can choose Istanbul Airport(IST) or Sabiha Gökçen Airport(SAW). Our drivers will welcome you.

2- 35- If I am under any medication, do I have to take my pills on the surgery day?

Yes. Please eat your breakfast and take your pills before you present to the clinic on the surgery day.

3- 34- I have chronic disease(s); is that affect my operation? Do I need to notify in advance?

Yes, we should know whether you have chronic disease(s) (Diabetes Mellitus, Rheumatic Diseases, Neurological Diseases or Hypertension...etc) or not. Therefore, please notify us in advance. Diabetic patients can be operated on, if their blood sugar is well regulated and if they have no wound healing problem. For hypertensive patients, high blood pressure aggravates bleeding in the surgery, and therefore, it should be regulated.

4- 33- Is any sedative agent or sleep pill administered to reduce anxiety?

This depends on the patient’s request before the surgery.

5- 32- What do you do for existing hairs?

Even one hair is important for us. We do care every single hair of the patient to get optimal result and maximize satisfaction. Your existing hair is protected in the transplant surgery. Hair follicles are transferred to bald areas.

6- 31- How dense you can do incisions and implantation?

Actually, it depends on number of grafts that the patient needs and presence of sufficient grafts in the donor area. If the patient has grafts that are sufficient to cover the entire bald area, the density is 80 FU per cm2, but most of the patients do not have enough graft for full coverage and accordingly, we maximize density in anterior scalp and gradually decrease it towards the mid-scalp (40-50 FU per cm2) and vertex (25-30 FU). This depends on bald area and requests and requirements of the patient.

7- 30- How do you do incisions?

We use Sapphire Blades, which are the most advanced and recent technique, and so, we do more dense incisions up to 70-80 FU per cm2.

8- 29- Which methods do you use for extraction?

We use micromotor and punches, measuring 0.6 to 0.85 mm in thickness, to collect grafts and separate single follicles from multiple follicular units.

9- 28- Do you use any special instruments to identify grafts?

We believe that success rates are influenced by extraction rates. We use magnifiers to identify and separate grafts with single and multiple follicles and thus, hair transplant surgery follows a physiological and natural process.

10- 27- Are your staff includes technicians and nurses?

We prefer the title “surgery assistants” and they have special training on hair transplant techniques. All surgery assistants have a training program of graft separation, extraction and implanting.

11- 26- Do you accept patients with Afro-textured hair? Are you experienced?

Afro-textured hair requires special care and technique and we accept such patients,

12- 25- How long does a consultation last Online, At Clinic or before Surgery?

Online or clinic consultation lasts until all questions are answered. Patients are briefly informed about all steps of the surgery by our doctors before the surgery. Next, your doctor will visit you at your room and your condition will be assessed.

13- 24- Are consultations free and do I need to pay?

We don’t charge anything for any online medical opinion request or physical examinations in our clinic.

14- 23- Is lunch covered by the package? Do I need to pay for the lunch?

Yes, lunch is covered by the package, as it takes long hours to perform the surgery. Lunch is free of charge.

15- 22- Is your staff full-time employees?

Hair transplant surgery is a growing field that attracts many patients from all over the world. Clinics try to admit all patients rather than refusing the procedure. We have three doctors in our clinic and all personnel are full-time employed, as we believe that this surgery requires special surgical care and experience. We ensure that our team adopts and follows the same surgical approach. Accordingly, all personnel of our clinic are educated and trained by our doctors and staff coordinators. We have special training programs and therefore, you will see some trainees who will watch the surgical procedure.

16- 21- Can I stay in a different hotel after or before treatment?

We provide a hotel stay in our package price but patients can choose their own hotel, or change hotel before or after treatment. Our price policy covers nearby hotels and your personal preference may cause extra charges. Please ask our case managers before booking.

17- 20- Which laboratory tests are analyzed before the hair transplant surgery?

Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV tests are analyzed at our clinic before each surgery. Operation is not performed if hepatitis C or HIC is positive. Therefore, we recommend to be sure about these tests before your departure. If patients want to learn etiology of hair loss, we can offer several tests to clarify the cause, if requested.

18- 19- Do I need to stop Minoxidil or Propecia before Surgery?

Minoxidil should be stopped 7 days before the surgery. You shouldn’t take Aspirin, Warfarin, Clopidogrel and any anti-coagulant before the surgery, as they increase the risk of bleeding. You can continue taking Finasteride. We also recommend you stop alcohol consumption for a few days before the surgery.

19- 18- How long does growth of implanted hair take?

Growth of transplanted hair can be seen in the first 2 weeks, but it is followed by shock hair loss in 2nd to 3rd week. It is the most challenging interval for patients, as most of the scalp hair (up to %80 of transplanted hair and %10-20 of existing hairs) shed temporarily. Hair will start growing after 4th month and the results will be evident by 40-50% in 6th month, 70-80% in 12th month and 90-95% in 18th to 24th months.

20- 17- You recommended two or more sessions for my condition. How long should I wait for subsequent sessions?

If a two-session surgery is planned and we plan to transfer hair follicles to 2 different recipient areas, recovery of the donor area takes approximately 6 months to transplant hair follicles to the second donor area. On the other hand, it is rational to wait for 12 months to make the final decision for the second donor area.

21- 16- How long does hair transplantation procedure take?

The surgery lasts 6 to 8 hours, although it may vary according to patient’s condition, number of grafts and expected peri-operative conditions; consultation takes 2 to 3 hours.

22- 15- Is there any guarantee for the hair transplant?

Unless you have any medical condition that affects your hair follicles like chemotherapy and chemical or radiation damage, implanted hairs will grow by %90 on frontal and mid-scalp area. The success rate is slightly lower for the vertex (top of the head), as growth pattern differs at this zone.

23- 14- What is maximum number of grafts you can transfer? How do you decide it?

We are not magicians and we do not create miracles; number of hair grafts is dictated by the donor area and we collect maximum amount of grafts without any damage to the donor area. Donor area will be marked with a pen before the surgery and surgeons collect grafts from the donor area without creating scar. Grafts can be collected in any number, but it is very important to avoid collecting too many grafts (overharvesting) or otherwise, patients may face an irreversible problem.

24- 13- What should I do to have a consultation before hair transplantation?

Just send your photos (from Front, Top, Back and Sides), your medical history, age and the onset of hair Loss to our Whatsapp number and e-mail address; our case managers will forward such documentations and details to our surgeons and get your treatment plan within few hours.
